Sometimes, life hands us a bunch of nuts.  Nuts are nice but too many can give you a stomach ache, or even a nut allergy.  Trust me I know.  I’ve had both.  The stomach ache, and way too many nuts.

Anyway, what to do in these circumstances.  My best advice is follow this squirrel.  First off, he decided to get away from all the other squirrels.  The next thing I noticed about the squirrel, is, no nuts.  The squirrel needed some me time.  So he picked the prettiest place around.  Carmel, California.

Where ever you are, right now, if you’re feeling squirrely, pick the prettiest place around, and go there.  If you can get into your car, and get there, fine, do it asap.  If you can not do this geographically, do it mentally.  Use your beautiful imagination.  Close your eyes and notice the colors.  Feel the fresh air, and warm sun, and breath deeply.  Be very still, for as long as you can stand it.

Then all you gotta do, is just say, “Thank you God.”   Nobody else need know what you are appreciating, except you and God.  God will appreciate this time, and so will you.

This works!  I’d love to hear from you if you decide to try it!

Let’s train the brain to get down to business, and do

WHAT WORKS“.

Today, right now, notice your breath.  Are you breathing?  Slow down, be thankful.

Simply put, gratitude works.

Yes, there will always be things not working in your body.

Focus on what does work in your body.  Focus on what you can do, and do that.

Next, focus on what you have.  Food?  Clothing?  Be grateful.

Others may dress and eat better than you, but who cares, really.   A person can only wear one outfit at a time, eat one meal at a time, do one thing at a time.

Be happy doing your thing.

Now, figure out what you can give.  Money? Time? Love? Prayer? Humor? Give something today to someone, expecting nothing in return.  Be generous.

Now, do something for yourself.  Today, practice encouragement.  Do not let one negative thought toward yourself, go unchallenged.  Today, you are your own mental advocate.  Any thought that crosses the threshold of consciousness, must be positive.

Let’s try this today, and tomorrow and the next day……you get the idea, and we all know the reason.

IT WORKS!

Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you, in Christ Jesus.

What do you do with terrorizing darkness,

that comes into your life, from a horrific storm?

Darkness comes to everyone eventually.  For some, the darkness has fallen many times, for others, not so much.

Nobody escapes darkness altogether.

Do you have a bucket list?  You know that list people say we need  in order to prove to ourselves that we’ve really lived, before we kick the bucket?

Well, I don’t.

Yet.

I do have another list.  The list of things that prove I’ve really lived, and lived to tell about it.

On my list I have:

losing my inheritance, losing my mind, losing my “ideal” family, losing my job, losing my figure, losing my youth, losing my best friends, losing love.  Stuff like that.  Some people would call that a sh@t list……AND THEY’D BE RIGHT.

Divine justice gives us this opportunity to make one list and actually live another. God  permits all sorts of variations to our mental ideal, and lets us grapple  with how intense pain and suffering, mixes in with a continual dose of his Divine Love.

If we’ve not done any serious reflection, then our education of life is quite limited, and what we offer to other sufferers, is blunted, only by what we think we know.

The more we face and accept that life comes full of curve balls, strike outs, base hits and home runs, the more we understand that we may give it our all, and sometimes gain defeat, or give nearly nothing and be handed a windfall.

Whatever we loose, we may never find, but what we do find, has more than enough added value, to compensate for our guaranteed losses.

Embracing divine mystery, and my loss of control, has earned me my place in the lap of Jesus, my great comforter.  Resting in this “place”  is worth any loss.  My pain is understood by his pain, and his nail scarred hands have touched and healed my wounded heart

As God deals with mankind, he deals with me and you.  God will never forsake us.  It’s a promise.  Jesus is with us in this life, and all the way into heaven.  This is my blessed hope, I put my faith in Gods guarantee.

Love…there’s nothing like it.  For a significant portion of my life, I wasn’t sure it existed.  Except deep down, I knew it did.  But my love jar seemed to be either broken,  twisted, empty, angry, or confused.

And then….things changed.  Life happened.   Over and over, for years at a stretch, life ran over me pretty much like those tires with a life-time warranty just keep pounding the pavement.  Over and over, smothing out the rough spots but adding plenty of new wrinkles.

This was/is  a good thing, no really, a great thing, if I care to admit it.  With all of that being “rung through the ringer”, a whole lot of nonsense got washed out of my heart, and a whole lot of understanding got rinsed in, and boy oh boy do I appreciate this new understanding…..of how love, can heal a heart.

God is love.  Pretty cool that statement.  Actually that’s an understatement, but I like it anyway.  Today, I’m thankful for God’s love, and that I know it’s real and that I can feel it.  Took awhile, but it happened.

The parts of how it happened that I understand are pretty intense, and the parts I don’t understand that I still believe in are all linked somehow.  So why try to share at all, this mysterious thing we call love?

Guess my answer is this, once you really get it, you feel it, it’s wonderful, and it just spills out, in so many ways. Love has been good to me, and I just want to share it.

So….on this Valentine’s day 2013, embrace love.  Love God, who’s given you this life, this awesome opportunity to live, love your family, love your friends, even love your enemies.  You’ll see fear vanish and you’ll experience the joy and peace that takes it place.

Today I’m sending my Love to you all, (but especially my precious husband Mike), and Happy Valentines Day.

Do you need someone else to make you happy?

This little girl does not!

Look at the pure joy on her face.

Not another soul in the picture!

Can you be happy all by yourself?

If not, it’s time to learn how.

You came into the world alone, and that’s how you’re leaving.

Time to start enjoying the journey, internally.

Jesus says, except we become as a little child we cannot enter the kingdom of heaven.

Additionally we ofttimes pray in Lord’s Prayer,

“Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven”.

There’s a connection between the child in the mirror and the kingdom of heaven.

Look closely and see if you can find it.

This child is living in the moment, washing her hands, not worrying about a thing.

She has everything she needs in the moment, and she is filled with joy.

Would you like to be as happy as this child?

You can.

Go look in the mirror.

Smile.

You have everything you need right now.

Truth is, you always will.  And if you don’t have it right this instant, at this instant,

you don’t need it.

Let go of fear.

Let go of anger.

Let go.

Smile.

In the kingdom of heaven you will have everything you will need.

On earth, your heavenly father will provide everything you need.

You’re safe.

Smile.

If you’re smiling and filled with Joy……you’re enjoying a little bit of heaven right here on earth!

Today,

take your cue from the Rose.

Share.

Don’t be stingy with your stuff.

Sharing works.

The Rose let the bug,

crawl all over it’s petals.

Assisting the unworthy, is not a favorite pastime of the masses.

Bugs don’t evaluate their worthiness, before they crawl all over you.

Looks like a lose-lose.

To get ahead you gotta start thinking differently.

Gotta, Gotta Gotta!

Sharing is a win-win.

And therein lies the point.

In life, you’re gonna get bugged.

Annoyances will crawl all over your petals.

Better to help the annoying critters along on their journey then to give them a good slap.

No sense in smashing someone to smithereens.

You don’t want to go stirring up sympathy for bugs,

or set people to wondering, “What Is THEIR problem?”.

Go ahead and share with the metaphoric bugs.

If you do, you’ll be helping yourself.

Amazing how that works.

Plus, it’s classy.

Before you know it, unexpected  help will be coming your way.

Activate the law of giving and receiving.

Share your petals, and you’ll come out

Smelling like a Rose!

Give, and it will be given to you. A large quantity, pressed together, shaken down, and running over will be put into your lap, because you will be evaluated by the same standard with which you evaluate others.”

Luke 6:38

On minute you’re on top of your world……

The next minute you’re upside down, hanging on for dear life.

You work hard, give it everything you’ve got,

Except for when you’re hiding.

Take heart, be strong, keep going.

Others are watching.

Climb on, my friend.

Ups and downs are all part of this beautiful journey.

At the end, though,

You’ll finish on top.

Hebrews 12:1,2

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,  fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

In art, the artist paints from a specific

perspective, their own.

Life is the same.

But….

if your perspective is off

…..so are you.

Below you’ll see a few pretty little tips

to get your perspective,

spot on.

Look at the top

Peer underneath.

Glance sideways.

Take it from beginning,

to the very end.

Bring in others’ point of view.

Above all else

give it time to bloom.

Gaining perspective takes patience.

Trying to figure out how it ends

can drive you crazy.

In time, things will be clear.

Then it’s on to something else,

with other opportunities to use that new, fresh, perspective.

Only God sees the issue

from the beginning to the end,

front to back,

upside down to sideways up.

God’s around for enlightenment, too, although sometimes, God’s only advice is to wait.

So be patient.

You’re gaining perspective!

1 Corinthians 2:16

For, “Who can know the LORD’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?” But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.

Fun to say, isn’t it?

They just need to build a bridge….

How easy it is to see people all around us that need to move on over to the other side.

We’ve all got our opinions, and we don’t like to have to change them.

But sometimes, our very quality of life depends upon getting across that metaphoric bridge.

Reminds me of the old corny joke.

“Why did the chicken cross the road?”

“To get to the other side”!

Why do you cross bridges?

To get to the other side of what, pray tell?

The other side of anger is forgiveness.

The other side of worry is peace.

The other side of hate is love.

The other side of crazy is sane.

Life has lots of bridges

Which ones do you want to cross?

If you’re where you don’t exactly want to be,

It’s time to build a bridge,

And get over it!

“Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.”

2 Corinthians 5:17

Ready, set…….GO!

You’re running a race, a living marathon actually.

If you want to win, you must take time for sustenance, but sustenance is more than just food.

Sustenance revives us.

Sustenance refreshes us.

Sustenance blesses us.

Since we can always use more sustenance

begin by looking for your blessings.

Don’t stay fixed as to where your blessings can come from.

Broaden your view.

Look around, and see God’s abundance everywhere.

Plenty of petals on a rose.

Countless clouds in the sky.

Endless sand on the seashore.

You get the idea.

Now is the time to let God’s endless generosity come into your life, without anyone’s limiting restrictions.

Thinking this way develops an attitude of gratitude.

Others will sit up and take notice.

Some might even throw a little sabotage your way.

Pay little notice.

Remember you’re focussing on Blessings.

Stay thankful.

Ignore the haters and watch as the sustenance continues to flow.

Be forgiving, and kind because bitterness dries the bones.

It’s way too hard to run in the race of life dragging around a bunch of  rattling, brittle bones.

Choose to live a life that inspires, refreshes and blesses.

What a great way to make use of the Law of Perpetual Motion

Say it to yourself every day.

I am Ready to be Blessed!

1 Peter 3:9

Nor returning evil for evil, or insult for insult, but giving a blessing instead; for you were called for the very purpose that you might inherit a blessing.

I am Ready to be Blessed!
